Jan Scheeren, President and CEO, founded Centrepoint in 1990 with the vision that call switching technology—the closely guarded domain of telecommunications giants—belongs in the hands of people who need it most: small business owners. Guided by that vision, in 1995 Centrepoint released its flagship desktop phone system, Concero Switchboard, which was immediately recognized as a “groundbreaking product.” In 2001, Centrepoint introduced the TalkSwitch 24 and 48 systems, boasting sophisticated new features, and addressing the needs of businesses with up to twenty phone users.
Both the Concero Switchboard and the new TalkSwitch series have been featured in over 120 publications, with rave reviews published in such distinguished periodicals as Fortune, Newsweek, the Los Angeles Times, CRN, and Communications Convergence. Concero Switchboard has won numerous awards, including: PC Week magazine’s overall Best of Show at COMDEX Spring ’98; three PC Computing magazine MVP awards in 1998 and 1999; and Computer Telephony magazine’s 1998 Product of the Year. The TalkSwitch series has won the Communications Solutions Product of the Year award in 1999 (beta version); the first ever SOHObie award from Communications Convergence magazine in 2001 and Communications Solutions Editor’s Choice award in 2002.
Today, Centrepoint extends its vision by providing a smooth evolutionary path for TalkSwitch customers. The TalkSwitch system can be installed as a PBX, expanded via the LAN, and evolve to perform Internet telephony.
