CosmoCom was founded in 1996 to create a new generation of call center technology for a world in which the Internet and e-mail are at least as important as the telephone, and businesses want systems that are not simply “integrated,” but genuinely unified. Today’s prevailing solution — telephone switch-centric call center architecture and complex array of adjunct systems — is not well suited to address the changing communication environment. CosmoCom offers its unified, all-IP approach as a complete alternative to a traditional approach that has become impractically complex and prohibitively expensive.

The demand for network-based call centers is increasing rapidly. Most call center technologies are designed for premises use and cannot be deployed as a network-based service in a simple and cost-effective way. Our flagship product, CosmoCall Universe, overcomes this limitation by making call center agents location-independent with a single IP connection, and by unifying all contact methods. This approach enables businesses to rapidly deploy complete multimedia call center technologies without the capital investment, custom system integration, and complex CTI efforts of the traditional approach. Significant Achievements
Since its inception, the company has achieved significant milestones, particularly with the introduction of its flagship product, CosmoCall Universe. With CosmoCall Universe, CosmoCom has created an elegant, IP-based multimedia call center alternative. It is a complete Windows 2000 Server call center solution that fully integrates live multimedia communication via the Internet and/or telephone into any web site or network-based application. The technology, patented in May 2000, makes CosmoCom the first and only company to create truly unified multimedia call center technology.
CosmoCom has achieved substantial press coverage and is recognized by industry leaders and analysts as providing the most complete solution of its kind in the marketplace. For example, a Spring 2000 report by international marketing consultants Frost & Sullivan credits CosmoCom with a 50% share of the United States IP-ACD market - twice the market share of its nearest competitor. Computer Associates and Siemens entered into strategic partnerships with CosmoCom early in the company’s development. Other strategic partnerships include technology partners like Siebel, ONYX and Brightware, and integration and VAR partners like SAIC and Marconi Communications.
The company has been backed by prestigious venture capital investors, both strategic and financial, since its initial funding round in 1997. In August 2000, CosmoCom closed a $40 million round of private equity financing with investors including the Intel Communications Fund; Marconi Ventures, the corporate venture fund of Marconi plc.; and Technology Crossover Ventures (TCV), with most of CosmoCom’s previous investors completing the round. With more than sixty customers world wide, and over two years of quarterly revenue growth, the company’s balance sheet remains exceptionally strong. CosmoCom has established its headquarters in Melville, Long Island, where its development staff, and core engineering and customer support resources are based. CosmoCom has followed a strategy of global presence, and has significant offices in the five largest economies of the world – Japan, Germany, France, UK, and the US, with additional presence in Hong Kong and Finland.
