This solution, which consists of the PhoneRider telephony board and CyberDesk application software, provides advanced messaging services to desktop PCs and also extends all the functionality into the field for use on regular or mobile phones. For example, road warriors can not only hear their e-mails but also “reply to author” using a telephone. The spoken reply is converted into an audio file that is attached to the e-mail and this is transmitted according to the instructions given by the recipient. In addition, the PC can automatically forward all calls received at the desktop to a designated telephone number. If calls are not answered they default to voice mail.

PhoneRider CyberDesk therefore provides unified messaging at the desktop (e-mail, voice mail and faxes) and becomes a virtual messaging assistant when users are on the move. Thus, there is no longer any need to carry a notebook PC or PDA when the user requirement is for a fully featured messaging solution. All that is needed is just a phone.
