QOVIA, INC. ANNOUNCES "POWERED BY QOVIA" PROGRAM
VoIP Equipment Vendors and Others Can Now Integrate Qovia's Award-Winning Technologies into Their Offerings
FREDERICK, Md. and ORLANDO, Fla. (VoiceCon 2005)--February 8, 2005--Qovia, Inc., the technology and market leader in enterprise Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) monitoring and management products, today announced its "Powered by Qovia" program that will make Qovia's products and intellectual property available to select partners. The first participant in the "Powered by Qovia" program is NEC Unified Solutions, a subsidiary of NEC America and affiliate of NEC Corporation (NASDAQ: NIPNY) based in Dallas, Texas. NEC adopted a complete suite of VoIP management tools and applications within its Electra-Elite IPK VoIP phone system.
The "Powered by Qovia" program is directed at Qovia's strategic alliance partners and OEM partners that want to embed Qovia management tools and technologies into their product offerings. Qovia Strategic Alliance partners include leading VoIP equipment manufacturers, such as core equipment, software, handsets and microprocessors; network management vendors; carrier-class VoIP product manufacturers; wireless VoIP developers; VoIP security developers; managed service providers, systems integrators and VARs; and others.
"As enterprise VoIP phone systems scale into the tens- and hundreds-of-thousands of handsets, management tools are a must," said R. Pierce Reid, Qovia's vice president of Marketing. "Qovia is one of the most recognized names in VoIP management software. In developing and delivering our products, we have built a tremendous portfolio of intellectual property along with expertise in all aspects of managing the quality and reliability of VoIP phone systems. Now, leading VoIP equipment and technology vendors will be able to offer their customers VoIP products with built-in management tools that are `Powered by Qovia'."
"The NEC Electra Elite IPK phone system is one of the industry's best selling VoIP phone systems, with more than 30,000 sold," said Jay Krauser, general manager, Product Management Division, NEC Unified Solutions, Inc. "And today, the NEC Electra Elite IPK has management `Powered by Qovia'. One of the reasons the IPK product has been so successful is that we have listened to our customers. Because VoIP management is a customer priority, we turned to Qovia to provide VoIP monitoring and management from the network end points, so our customers can be assured of optimal performance of their IPK systems. By taking advantage of the `Powered by Qovia' program, we were able to quickly and cost-effectively offer our customers proven management capabilities."
"Qovia has seen tremendous interest in our products and technologies from potential strategic partners," said Tom Casella, director of strategic alliances at Qovia. "In the past months, we have had contacts from major enterprise VoIP equipment vendors, network management software companies, carrier-class equipment developers and even Internet security companies which are interested in taking advantage of our tools or our intellectual property. By creating the `Powered by Qovia' program, we now have a fast path to work with these industry leaders and innovators."
Access to Qovia's products and intellectual property can take a variety of forms, from embedding portions of Qovia's code into products under license to selling re-branded Qovia appliances and software under license. By using proven Qovia VoIP Monitoring and Management System (VMMS) technologies, partners will be able to use one of the industry's de facto standard products for monitoring and managing their VoIP implementations.
Customers will be able to identify products that are "Powered by Qovia" via a logo that can be applied to hardware and/or a screen icon that Qovia OEM partners can use in their software or user interfaces. These easy-to-spot identifiers will show enterprise customers that Qovia technologies are being used by their equipment vendor of choice to ensure quality and reliability of their VoIP phone implementations.
Qovia continues to offer its award-winning Qovia VMMS through its network of resellers and dealers.
