VOICE EXPERT TEKVIZION ANNOUNCES DATA NETWORKING EXEC AS NEW CEOLeland Phillips, Sr. Joins Firm to Help Foster Coalitions in VoIP Multi-vendor Era
RICHARDSON, Texas--March 1, 2005--tekVizion(TM) PVS, Inc., the new standard for systems integration, today said it has named Leland Phillips, Sr. as its new chief executive officer. With this hire, tekVizion is taking critical steps to position itself as an industry leader for many years to come.
Leland Phillips, Jr., one of the firm's founders and prior CEO, becomes EVP of corporate development where he will focus on the development of strategic partnerships with leading telecommunications vendors and service providers.
As CEO, Phillips' focus is on setting tekVizion's strategic direction and aligning the company's business with the critical challenges facing the telecommunications industry. "The industry is faced with simultaneous challenges associated with growing their revenues through enhanced service offerings," Phillips noted. "To remain competitive, service providers must juggle the complexities of evolving their infrastructure to embrace VoIP technologies while simultaneously maintaining the quality of service that their customers have come to expect. The flexibility and new services enabled by the many new vendor offerings often comes at a cost of end-to- end feature interoperability issues. tekVizion's focus is to solve these underlying problems to allow vendors and service providers to focus on their core product and services offerings."
Phillips' background is in data networking. "Just as voice and data technologies are converging, so is the talent," said Terri Griffin, tekVizion president. "The cross-pollination of talent from these historically separate industries is further evidence that convergence is a reality."
Prior to joining tekVizion, Phillips spearheaded Lumigent Technologies, Inc.'s sales and customer support strategy as a founding member of the management team that has established itself as a leader in data auditing technology. During his 10-year tenure with 3Com Corp, he held various senior sales and marketing management positions within the enterprise network systems business. The remainder of his 20 years of IT-related experience include advanced systems design of large-scale software and security projects for the U.S. Air Force, NASA and MITRE Corp. Phillips earned a bachelor's degree with a dual major in computer science and mathematics from the University of Oklahoma, and completed graduate-level studies in computer science and system redundancy at the University of Houston and UCLA.
