By 2010 all interactive voice communication will be transported
on the public Internet. This includes what we now know as "phone
calls" as well as what is becoming known as e-calls. E-calls
are communications that are better than communications using traditional
phones. They may include new services like a single number that
follows the customer anywhere or allowing the customer to manage
incoming calls any way they want and anywhere they want, on mobile
phones; computers; appliances or personal assistants, like Palm
Pilots.
ITXC
In
just four years of operation, ITXC has become the largest US-based
dedicated wholesale carrier of international phone calls. The company
ranks among the top 20 carriers of any kind in the world based on
minutes of international calling. Approximately two out of every
100 international calls worldwide are carried by ITXC on behalf
of the retail carriers whose customers make these calls.
Proprietary
ITXC technology has made it possible to build a carrier-grade call
completion network, ITXC.net, with 849 points of presence in 406
cities in 146 countries (as of February 28, 2002) using the Internet
as backbone. The efficiency of this business model means low prices,
low capital costs, and fast deployment for ITXC carrier customers.
In a time when carrier debt incurred to overbuild traditional networks
has brought turmoil to the industry, ITXC customers and suppliers
are pleased by the fact that ITXC has no net debt and a balance
sheet as strong as it is simple.
All
major US carriers including RBOCs are ITXC customers; many are ITXC
suppliers as well. Major carriers around the world including China
Telecom, Telia, Telstra, PLDT, Cable & Wireless Optus, and Telecom
South Africa buy from or sell call completion to ITXC. New competitive
carriers including Cotas/Teledata in Bolivia, DataAccess in India,
Barak in Israel, and China Mobile find that ITXC offers them not
only an instant worldwide network but revenue from traffic aggregated
worldwide and terminated on their networks.
ITXC
is known as the essential offnet carrier taking calls to and from
everywhere a carriers own network doesnt reach.
The Network:
ITXC.net(SM), an Internet-based voice network, provides carrier-quality
call completion services over the Internet to over 150 countries.
ITXC.net is a dynamically managed network; originating, transporting
and terminating voice and fax traffic. ITXC maintains a high Quality
of Service (QoS) using its patented BestValue Routing(TM) applications.
BestValue Routing applications proactively manage and control quality
of service on ITXC.net, 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Connectivity
to ITXC Affiliates, who originate and terminate ITXC.net traffic
worldwide, and unparalleled Quality of Service (QoS), make ITXC.net
the leading Internet telephony network in the world.
Affiliate
Suppliers operate IP telephone gateways and are paid by ITXC to
complete Internet telephony calls to the local PSTN (Public Switch
Telephone Network) in countries across the globe. Gateways can be
Affiliate-owned or ITXC-owned and operated (SNARC(SM)).
Affiliate
Customers are companies that originate calling minutes. They use
several means to connect to the network. Customers connect to ITXC.net
using their own IP telephony gateways, ITXC owned IP telephony gateways,
and through dedicated links to switches at ITXC SuperPoPs.
SuperPoPs
are traffic aggregation points --strategically located in Jersey
City, NJ; Los Angeles, CA and London, UK -- that contain switches,
hundreds of IP telephony gateways, connections to multiple IP backbone
(Tier 1 ISPs) and PSTN providers.
Quality
of Service:
BestValue
Routing
ITXC achieves high quality of service through the use of its patented
BestValue Routing applications. These applications were specifically
designed and developed by ITXC to deliver consistent, high quality
call completion over the Internet. Without BestValue Routing applications,
carrier class quality of service over the Internet would not be
possible.
Using
proprietary routing and re-routing algorithms, equipment placed
throughout the Internet, and sophisticated network overview software,
ITXC is able to maintain high quality on the public Internet.
The
use of BestValue Routing applications differentiates ITXC from clearinghouses
and telecom commodity brokers that are merely financial intermediaries
between network providers. Committed to quality, ITXC does not treat
its customers minutes as commodities, but instead as a precious
resource.
BestValue
Routing applications include four inter-related components: Technology,
Methodology, Network Configuration, Network Redundancy
Rapid Deployment
ITXC
is the industry leader in deployment. ITXCs highly trained
and skilled Deployment Team completes an ever-increasing number
of deployments each month. ITXC has more experience deploying IP
telephony gateways than any other provider, deploying equipment
with unmatched speed, quality and accuracy. A typical gateway deployment
is completed and operational in just six days, compared to the 60-day
time frame that is typical across the telecommunications industry.
Network
Operations Center
ITXC.net
is monitored and managed 24 hours per day, seven days per week by
ITXCs Network Operations Center (NOC), a fully staffed operation
responsible for the system-wide monitoring, surveillance, trouble
isolation/resolution, re-routing and ongoing technical support of
ITXCs Affiliates.
