There's been a lot of talk about whether a PBX can integrate data and LAN connectivity.

We're here to tell you it can. Our customers' networks are proof. Intecom presents InteLANTM, a high-speed integrated LAN that routes data, text and graphics on the same network as our PBX. So now when you purchase a network from Intecom, you can get a sophisticated voice communications network with an industrystandard LAN built in - with a cost-to-performance ratio far superior to that of a stand-alone LAN and traditional PBX.

InteLAN provides LAN access for tens or thousands of your Ethernet and FDDI users with desktop connectivity to up to 100 Mbps. It can route multiple protocols, such as TCP/IP and Appletalk, to meet virtually any LAN-todesktop, LAN-to-LAN and LAN-to-WAN application. And because fault tolerance is standard throughout our network, you get the reliability you expect for your voice network, plus the reliability you deserve for your LAN.

Ask any one else if their PBX or LAN can do that. Then call Intecom. Our networks mean business.

InteLAN Lives Up To Your Highest S
tandards.

InteLAN includes a MAC-layer (Media Access Control) intelligent bridge that supports virtually all LAN and WAN networking standards, including those for Ethernet, 1OBase-T, T-1, HDLC, FDDI, with options for SONET and ATM. InteLAN interface cards reside in standard line card cabinets and integrate as many as eight bridges on a single card. By comparison, LAN vendors require many more cards to do the same. Additional hub cards are also available to expand your network.

What's more, InteLAN is powered in such a way that you can hot-insert the cards to break and heal your LAN ring without pulling cables or bringing your network down. Better still, our power scheme ensures your LAN service is as reliable as your telephone service - so should the power go down, your LAN won't.

Routing For Increased Connectivity.

For multi-protocol environments, InteLAN offers an integrated routing option that supports AppleTalk, ISO CLNP, IPX and TCP/IP transport protocols and IS-IS and RIP inter-router protocols, thus increasing connectivity between users and their applications.

InteLAN Goes The Distance.

InteLAN is expressly designed to accommodate very high data rates for many users via a fiber optic backbone. Intecom's unique fiber distribution scheme allows you to place your hardware components close to clusters of users and extend the full allowable bandwidth to those who need it. In addition, our distributed architecture provides multigigabit service for more than 10,000 users at distances up to 100,000 feet from a central point in your fiber-based network. As your network's backbone grows, you can add bandwidth in 100 Mbps increments, providing overall network capacity into the gigabits. When ATM via SONET arrives, InteLAN can take your voice and data network still farther and faster.

Our Network Manager Gives You Total Control.

When it comes to network management, no one gives you more control over your network than Intecom. Our SNMPbased network manager lets you fully configure and manage your network from a secure, central point of control. Our network manager uses HewlettPackard's OpenView platform for clear, colorful graphic topologies and easy-to-read screens. And it updates your software and database using a secure program download.

If It's Secure, It's InteLAN.

In today's world of industrial espionage and network trespassing, you need a network that's secure. To protect against such security breaches, and for the sake of privacy itself, InteLAN safeguards against unwanted data manipulation, while relieving the security management burden placed on your network operating system.

In addition to security audit trails, our network manager provides: Private networking that gives you the flexibility to partition physically connected resources into separate and discrete networks, preventing specified segments from communicating outside of their assigned network. Plus, bridge and device port security that allows you to monitor and control access to any or all bridge or device ports. InteLAN provides automatic intruder detection and alarm generation, as well as the ability to secure physical transmission paths between assigned networks.

No Other Network Is I
ntecom.

No other network integrates voice, highspeed data, text, graphics and video on a single network. No other network moves LAN traffic at 100 Mbps within your PBX. Then again, no other network is lntecom. If you're just looking for a PBX, maybe it's time you raised your standards. We're Intecom. Backed by $11 billion Matra-Hachette with a network that means business.

How Is It Possible For A PBX To Route LAN Traffic?

The bandwidth difference. From the beginning, Intecom knew it was in the communications business, not just the voice business. So while PBX vendors built their networks for digital voice, we built ours with the high bandwidth required to handle multimedia. As a result, our network processes not just voice, but all LAN traffic. To accommodate the high speeds these media require, our network uses a fiber optic backbone distribution, rather than the traditional copper or coax cable PBXs use. Consequently, you can provide all media from a single network and manage it as one integrated system.
