Accedian Networks Wins Top Cable Industry Award
Distinguished, Independent Panel of Cable Executives Recognize Accedian Networks’ Solutions Enabling High-Performance Business Access and Wireless Backhaul Services. NXTcomm 2008 SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2008
Accedian Networks ™, a leading provider of Packet Performance Assurance ™ solutions for telecom, cable and wireless communications providers, announced today that its EtherNID™ packet assurance demarcation unit has been selected by a panel of prominent cable industry executives as a winner of the 2008 Diamond Technology Reviews. EtherNID units can establish, monitor and maintain high-performance Ethernet services for wireless backhaul and business access applications – two key new markets currently pursued by cable multi-service operators (MSOs).
The Diamond Technology Reviews are organized annually by Broadband Gear Report, highlighting products that demonstrate innovation, ease of use, efficiency, reliability and technical capabilities that offer substantial benefits to cable MSOs. This year’s panel of judges was composed of senior network engineering executives from Time Warner Cable, Charter Communications, Suddenlink, Sunflower Broadband, KnowledgeLink and Bresnan Communications.
Installed at customer and cell sites, the EtherNID unit’s hardware-based packet processing capabilities enable the creation and assurance of carrier-grade Ethernet connectivity over multi- technology, multi-vendor and multi-carrier networks, allowing MSOs to quickly establish high-performance wireless backhaul and business access services backed by end-to-end Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The unit’s advanced capabilities include in-service throughput testing, one-way delay & jitter measurement, intelligent layer 1-4 loopbacks, Ethernet service mapping and zero-latency traffic shaping.
“Cable MSOs are focused on becoming complete communications providers, serving home, enterprise and wireless customers with a complete service portfolio. To complete their offerings, MSOs are rapidly deploying business and wireless backhaul services, both are high-growth revenue opportunities that their fiber-rich networks have the capacity to support,” explained Laura Hamilton, Editor-in-Chief of Broadband Gear Report. “The Diamond Technology Reviews has recognized Accedian Networks’ solution as a solid product with unique attributes that help cable operators move quickly into both of these key markets.”
“We’ve designed our solutions to simplify the creation and assurance of critical, SLA-backed Ethernet services,” explained Patrick Ostiguy, founding President & CEO of Accedian Networks. “By including all of the necessary networking and monitoring functions required to deploy and manage carrier-grade services in a compact demarcation unit, service providers can quickly scale to revenue without costly network or operational support system upgrades. The EtherNID unit solves access platform interoperability issues by acting as a common service end-point, with consistent operations, administration and maintenance (OAM) functionality from end-to-end over any network.”
Accedian Networks will be presenting at an upcoming Light Reading webinar covering efficient 3G & 4G wireless backhaul on June 3rd. The EtherNID unit and Accedian Networks’ Ethernet Service Assurance Platform (ESAP™) will be demonstrated at NXTcomm, June 16-19 in Las Vegas (booth SL1209), and at SCTE’s CableTec, June 24-27 at the JDSU booth (#543).
