OTTAWA, ONTARIO, Canada, Jan 11, 2010—Enablence Technologies Inc. Ketchikan Public Utilities Telecommunications Division is owned by the City of Ketchikan, and serves a community of approximately 14,000 residents. KPU will deploy a network that facilitates the transition from DSL to fiber and provides a more compelling bundled service offering to business and residential customers that includes high-speed voice, data and digital HDTV. KPU turned to Enablence, building on a longstanding relationship in which Enablence was its systems supplier for its traditional ADSL and ADSL 2-based voice and data services over a copper-based network architecture.
Through a contract worth approximately $660,000 over the next three years, Enablence will provide KPU with its MAGNM-20 Chassis for an Active Fiber for the Home network and the indoor and outdoor versions of its E-1320 Optical Network Terminal (ONT). This deployment will provide KPU with a superior future-proof solution, supported by Enablence’s customer support and service.
“We believe Enablence has a technologically superior solution for our needs, and we have always been impressed by overall service and its outstanding customer support track record,” said Van Abbott, KPU Division Manager. “We enjoy a level of trust and openness with this relationship that distinguishes Enablence.”
Enablence’s MAGNM-20, purpose-built for Ethernet/IP, is the first fully distributed MSAP (multi-service access platform) with IP/Ethernet at its core that provides a near Terabit per second capacity that scales to meet current bandwidth requirements and future needs for bandwidth expansion.
“KPU’s reliance on Enablence as a trusted partner for its evolving needs is a strong endorsement of our commitment to serving the current and future requirements of our customers with solutions that work with their existing infrastructure,” said Arvind Chhatbar, Chief Executive Officer of Enablence.
