Ascom (US) Inc. released two new wireless handsets that enhance the Ascom FreeNET VoWiFi line and the Freeset IP-DECT line. The i75 Messenger handset is a professional standards-based messaging and IP telephony device. The 9d24 Messenger handset is a professional interference-free IP-DECT telephony device. Both handsets were designed to provide high level quality communications at an affordable price. They have an intuitive user interface with a large scratch-proof display, a four-way navigation button, enhanced Push-to-Talk features and central phonebook. The handsets also provide a two-way messaging interface with various information systems, point-of sale applications, and production controls systems when utilizing the Ascom UNITE Messaging Suite. The supported text messaging applications include prioritized messaging, instant message display and distinct alert tones to ensure the most urgent event and associated message is immediately available.

The Ascom FreeNET standards-based solution consists of market-specific VoWiFi portable handsets with direct SIP connection or optional VoIP Gateway for integration to an existing circuit-switched PBX. The Ascom i75 handset is the industry’s most robust VoWiFi handset, offering many unique advantages, and full compliance with the very latest IEEE 802.11 and Wi-Fi alliance standards.
The Ascom Freeset IP-DECT system utilizes industry standard TDM and VoIP telephony interfaces to provide a fully integrated wireless communication platform. This professional grade communication solution may be integrated with IP-PBXs via a direct SIP interface or with TDM PBX’s via Ascom VoIP Gateways to provide seamless call handover and automatic roaming features ensure reliability for mobile users.
