The growing maze of wireless terms and acronyms will soon be unscrambled. CWNP (Certified Wireless Network Professional), the de facto standard for enterprise Wi-Fi training and certification, has released the Official CWNP Dictionary of Wireless Terms & Acronyms. The CWNP Dictionary contains more than 1000 definitions, and is authored by two CWNEs.
“The CWNP Dictionary is both a fundamental learning tool, as well as a useful reference guide, that bridges the gap between ‘standards speak’ and practical language in the wireless world,” said Devin Akin, chief technology officer of CWNP.
CWNP worked with two Cisco Systems wireless experts to create the dictionary. The authors are Joel Barrett, a senior-level wireless networking expert; and Vinay Saini, a software/QA engineer within the Wireless Networking Business Unit of Cisco. Both authors have achieved CWNE certification; the highest level of Wi-Fi certification attainable. The dictionary covers Wi-Fi and frequently used wireless terms. Additionally, it provides coverage of all CWNP exam terms and acronyms.
“Wireless is a constantly evolving arena and the terminology seems to grow exponentially,” added Cary Chandler, president of CWNP. “As with our CWNP certification programs, our goal is to stay ahead of the curve in providing the highest quality information and training materials, and to stay vendor neutral.”
The CWNP Dictionary will be sold online at http://www.cwnp.com. The dictionary will be available for purchase beginning Dec. 3, 2008.
“For the techie you think has everything, the dictionary will be a great stocking stuffer,” added Akin.
