Digium Authorized Reseller Program Soars with Integration of Switchvox Resellers

Open Source Telephony Innovator and Market Leader Grows Channel Program to Include More Than 260 Highly Qualified, Active Partners

Digium®, Inc., the Asterisk® Company, today announced that it has completed integration of the Digium Authorized Reseller program with that of Switchvox®, the provider of the world’s most widely used open source-based IP PBX, which Digium acquired in the fall of 2007. Switchvox resellers have full access to the array of services and benefits provided to long-time Digium partners, including sales, technical and marketing support and substantial discounts on the highest quality hardware and open source software available to provide turnkey or highly customized voice over IP (VoIP) platforms for their customers.

“Since launching the enhanced Digium Authorized Reseller program last August, we’ve opened our doors to more than 260 valued partners,” said Danny Windham, chief executive officer of Digium. “Customers who select Digium Authorized Resellers not only receive the highest quality Asterisk-based products in the industry, a money-back guarantee on Digium’s products and assurance of no vendor lock-in because Digium products are entirely standards-based, they benefit from working with the most carefully vetted resellers in the industry. We’re proud to include Switchvox partners in the program that we believe is the most channel-friendly in all of open source telephony.”

Integrated Program Supports Channel Partner Needs

Arreva Communications of Orange County, Calif., was founded by IP telephony industry veterans with substantial experience working with systems from vendors such as Avaya, Cisco and ShoreTel. The Arreva team determined that open source-based telephony systems were about to disrupt the market and opted, after an evaluation of several vendors, to standardize on Switchvox.

“We felt that Switchvox offered the best open source-based telephony solution and that the company’s culture and ability to adapt were just what we were looking for,” said Bob Murphy, managing partner at Arreva. “Now we have the benefits of working with Switchvox as well as the resources of Digium. We’ve worked with the biggest networking equipment providers and know what outstanding partner support looks like—we’re very pleased with what we’re experiencing with Digium and Switchvox.”

Jessica Tanenhaus, vice president of the Baltimore/Washington metro area’s Mavenspire, commented: “With the addition of Switchvox to the Digium product family, we’re seeing substantial interest from companies that are looking for unified communications. We’re now able to offer the openness and extensibility of Asterisk, but with the comfort of the Switchvox user interface. This enables us to service a broader set of customers.”

Digium’s position as the creator and sponsor of the open source Asterisk project means it can collaborate closely not only with resellers who prefer to work with award-winning and user-friendly, intuitive products such as the Switchvox IP PBX, but also those who work preferentially or exclusively with open source software and appreciate the power and flexibility of Genuine Asterisk.

Shelton Johns, a Digium Premier Solution Partner based near Atlanta, uses Asterisk to design and build highly customized telephony platforms that allow voice to be integrated into customers’ networks. “We use Asterisk because it’s 100 percent standards-based, which allows us to deliver VoIP solutions that are vendor neutral,” said Bryan Johns, partner. “Access to the source code gives us freedom to build VoIP platforms that are unique to each customer and to tightly integrate voice with each customer’s business workflow and existing applications. As a Digium partner, we gain the access and support we want and are able to contribute to the growth of the Asterisk project that means so much to our business.”

Mark Essayian is president of KME Systems of Southern California. An established Digium partner, KME Systems now offers Switchvox to customers. “We’re excited about the enhancements that Switchvox brings to Digium products. The ease of use, training and administration make it more cost-efficient for customers to use. Customers really like Switchvox because there are multiple capabilities built right into the system, but they don’t have to deploy all of them on day one. As the customer grows, we help them deploy new capabilities already in the system, giving us additional professional services to help them benefit from their initial investment, but they don’t have to pay additional licensing fees or buy additional hardware.”
