IP Network News: Italtel to Take Part at Exposanita 2

The role of the IP network is increasingly important and is becoming, in the area of hospital services and healthcare structures, an enabling platform for the integrated and efficient management of hospital data and processes.

In this context Italtel, recognized leader in telecommunications and IP technology, acts as a point of reference in the evolution of converging networks and services, as well as in terms of innovation in the healthcare system. Thanks to its experience in the development of advanced integrated communication systems, Italtel proposes new unified platforms that allow for the convergence of different technologies (IPTV, Clinic Sheet, and Communication). Doctors and patients can therefore take advantage of instruments and services that enable them to interact far more effectively whilst guaranteeing the security of data and privacy and optimising costs.

“We are the recognised leader in IP technology and unified communications, and we can now make enabling platforms available to the healthcare sector for the integrated and efficient management of hospital data and processes” - commented Maurizio Tondi, Vice President of the Italy Market Unit at Italtel. “The IP network is the place where all communications and data can converge, resolving on one hand the need for the integrated standardisation of all hospital services and processes, and on the other hand opening new frontiers towards new applications such as telemedicine.”

Italtel will be present at the show in Bologna at the following two stands:

• Milan Polytechnic Observatory (Pav. 26 – stand 22) at which Italtel will be presenting the Bed Side Terminal platform, an innovative solution to improve both the quality of patients’ hospital stays, and the quality of hospital services. More specifically, the system enables the patient to communicate (audio and video calls, e-mail) and access entertainment services (Radio, TV, Video library, Internet and Games) and doctors to access medical reports and clinical data in digital format.

• Dräger Medical (Pav. 26 – stand B74) at which Italtel will be presenting a number of demos, on mobile devices, of the localisation and presence- based services (consultations, availability and emergencies), through which the efficiency of hospital doctors and nurses can be improved.

Together with Dräger Medical, Italtel will also be a guest at the workshop being held by the ICT Observatory & CIO in Healthcare on Thursday 29 at 2.30 p.m. The workshop is entitled: ‘Advanced Healthcare 2.0 communication systems and clinical processes: ICT innovation and new organisational models’ and Italtel and Dräger Medical will be presenting the success story of the Papardo Cancer Hospital in Messina. Dr. Mafali, CIO at Papardo, and Maurizio Tondi, Senior Vice President of Italy Market Unit of Italtel, will illustrate the potential of the technologies implemented at the hospital to optimise clinical processes.
