Kofax Communication Server 8.1 ensures the reliable receipt, exchange and output of business-critical information between applications, devices and people. Able to handle virtually any communications format (e-mail, fax, voice mail, SMS, MMS, Telex and others), the product also enables data to be converted from one format to another, and each message to be optionally archived for compliance purposes. The software is compatible with numerous applications from SAP, Microsoft, IBM and other independent software vendor (ISV) products, and can be easily configured as a secure, high-volume enterprise fax server.

With the release of Kofax Communication Server 8.1, the company is also introducing a new version of its FoIP software which improves business communications efficiency by leveraging VoIP infrastructure to offer all the advantages of a highly reliable fax solution while requiring no additional hardware or dedicated phone lines and fewer servers to operate.

FoIP 3.0 works in conjunction with Kofax Communication Server 8.1, enabling organizations to retain the major benefits of faxes – universal standardization, transmission security, file format-insensitive – in a reliable, cost-effective end-to-end solution for transmitting documents in real-time. Simple to deploy and easy to use, the solution features superior diagnostic mechanisms for easier set-up and administration as well as error and discrepancy identification and resolution.

Able to seamlessly integrate into most existing network infrastructures, Kofax Communication Server 8.1 increases overall system performance and features several new benefits vital for high-end business communication applications at an enterprise level. This includes 50% more message throughput without the need for hardware upgrades. In addition to FoIP functionality, the server offers extended Web-based access and administration, expanded network document printing capabilities and support for advanced capture and workflow applications.

“Kofax Communication Server 8.1 and FoIP 3.0 provide enterprise organizations with a central, single-source information exchange solution that can be easily and cost-effectively integrated into even the most heterogeneous distributed network,” said Jim Nicol, Executive Vice President of Products for Kofax. “The solution delivers the most stable and efficient communications product for automating and accelerating business processes, and can virtually plug into a customer’s existing systems without requiring additional infrastructure investments. So total cost of ownership can be significantly reduced, all while substantially improving system capabilities and performance.”

Kofax Communication Server 8.1 offers advanced capabilities – such as enhanced Web-Client and compliance verifications, and automated device re-routing to alternative addresses for printing documents via network printers and multifunction peripheral (MFP) devices. The product supports new generation environments such as SAP 7 integration via SMTP, various IP environments like Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Call Manager) 6, Windows Server 2008 and others.
