Momentum Completes Acquisition of vCentrix to Expand Digital Voice Customer Base

Momentum, the leading provider of private label digital voice service to operators and municipalities throughout the U.S., today announced the acquisition of vCentrix, a nationwide provider of hosted VoIP solutions based in the Boston area. This acquisition brings together two companies with complementary technology and a common goal of ensuring that the benefits of telecommunications competition are realized for U.S. business and residential consumers.

vCentrix is a strategic addition to Momentum’s hosted services business. The acquisition extends Momentum’s engineering capabilities and capacity – enhancing the delivery of several complex voice products, including residential and multiple business class services. The vCentrix acquisition also increases the company’s existing client base to more than 120 operator partners and boosts Momentum’s existing line count to more than 60,000 subscribers. The company expects significant growth in the foreseeable future.

“We were impressed with Momentum’s flexibility, multiple equipment interoperability, broad industry knowledge and positive reputation,” said Talal Ali Ahmad, CEO of vCentrix, who will take on a strategic role with Momentum. “Together, Momentum and vCentrix will be a powerful combination in delivering digital voice with enhanced voice features and we will ensure our customers continue to receive superior, uninterrupted service throughout the duration of the six month transition period.”

This acquisition expands Momentum’s current office footprint into the important Boston market where the company can attract top engineering talent. The acquisition also includes a wholly-owned subsidiary in Belarus which includes key software developers, enabling the company to offer additional hosted products.

“In such a fragmented market, both companies feel that hosted voice applications are entering a period of consolidation, and Momentum is well-equipped to be a leader in this coming shakeout,” stated Alan Creighton, president and CEO of Momentum. “The acquisition of vCentrix is a major step forward for Momentum, allowing us to accelerate the development of innovative broadband communication applications.”
