(NEC), a leader in enterprise business communications, is featuring hospitality solutions to address the dimensions of communications needed to help improve guests’ overall experience during the HITEC 2008 conference, held June 16-19 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. Throughout the conference, NEC also will highlight its corporate social responsibility environmental and forestation programs.
“NEC is committed to providing the hospitality industry with the latest technological advancements designed to enable them to save time and lower operational expenses while providing guests responsive, high-end services,” said Diana Shoenmann, vice president of the National Sales Assistance Center, NEC Unified Solutions’ subject matter expert group focused on vertical industries and complex solutions. “Through our UNIVERGE®360 approach, hospitality customers can develop versatile, tailor-made communications and IT solutions that recognize and meet the needs of their guests and staff to allow them to effectively improve staff efficiency and the overall guest experience.”
During HITEC 2008, NEC will highlight the following in booth #925:
* UNIVERGE Desktop IP Terminals: a new family of IP terminals that moves the standard desktop phone to the next level with an extensive feature set and modular design. NEC’s new color touch-screen LCD model supports customized browser-based applications that can enable in-room guest services, such as the ability to order room service or make a spa appointment. Overall, UNIVERGE terminals provide:
-- scalability and customization through modularity,
-- SIP support, investment protection,
-- support for VoIP,
-- XML open interface support,
-- intuitive interfaces, and
-- productivity-enhancing features such as menu-driven soft key functions and easy-access function keys.
The revolutionary modular design allows for multiple combinations to fit a wide array of organizational needs or personalization requirements. NEC also features a full line of next-generation digital terminals.
* UNIVERGE SV8000 Series: these are robust, feature-rich communications servers that are completely scalable and flexible to meet any size property’s communications needs. The SV8000 series servers support both pure IP and any combination of IP and traditional circuit-switched telephones. NEC offers Hospitality Management, a communications application that enables hotels to offer the latest guest messaging services and hospitality-focused features, including flexible numbering, room status and toll-restriction check-in mode. Hospitality Management also works with the organization’s Property Management System (PMS) through Property Management System Interface (PMSI) to support many key front and back-office functions.
* UNIVERGE MA4000 Management System: a Web-based management application that gives users remote access through a personalized portal to configure their communication options based on individual needs, thereby streamlining IT administrative workflow.
* Contact Center Solutions: NEC’s array of contact center solutions that can help streamline guest services, including call routing and handling for central reservations, directory assistance, information services and various hotel or resort departments.
* Digital Signage Solution: NEC’s versatile Digital Signage Solution, along with NEC LCD displays, present dynamic, multi-media messaging to keep guests informed about services, event schedules and available activities. Self-service touch-screen kiosks provide interactive way-finding, details on hotel services and appointment booking.
* Green Initiatives: NEC Corporation adopted its first company-wide environmental policy in 1969 and this year’s HITEC exhibit reflects its ongoing commitment to earth-friendly practices. No paint or stains containing Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) were used, and wherever possible, recyclable materials were employed. Green Label Plus certified carpet, tempered glass and natural materials also were chosen. NEC Corporation’s strict manufacturing standards for supplies and recycling programs have a positive ecological impact. Through Ecotonoha, NEC continues to demonstrate a commitment to the environment. Ecotonoha is a forestation program, where NEC will propagate at least 750 acres of trees on Kangaroo Island in Australia; the number of trees planted increases as online dialogue entries are submitted at https://www.ecotonoha.com/index_en.html.
Developing solutions that enable hospitality organizations to improve their effectiveness is part of NEC’s UNIVERGE360 vision. This approach places people at the center of business communications, identifies the roles people play, and then unifies the technology and business processes needed to make their jobs more efficient.
