IRVING, Texas, Jan 27, 2010—NEC Corporation of America (NEC), a leading provider and integrator of advanced communications, networking and IT solutions, today introduced its latest softphone, UNIVERGE(R) SP350, which allows individuals to work smarter while managing the different aspects of communications.
“With the SP350, people can share real-time, high-quality information, whether they’re in the office or working remotely,” said Jay Krauser, general manager, sales support and engineering, NEC Corporation of America. “Our new softphone is compact but versatile, has the same features as a desktop phone but with the addition of advanced multimedia applications and is designed to help employees be even more productive and efficient.”
Full-Featured, Multimedia IP Softphone
The SP350 Softphone, which runs as a PC application, shares real-time information from a personal computer or laptop and delivers high quality voice through a USB-connected headset/handset.
-- Primary Telephony Device—A space-saving device for organizations that use integrated voice and data applications on a regular basis, the SP350 can replace or supplement a standard desktop phone.
-- Remote/Mobile Users—Through a simple Virtual Private Network (VPN) Internet connection, individuals that are away from their desks can handle calls as if they were in the office and interact via voice, audio, video or text just by logging onto their PC.
-- Microsoft(R) Office Outlook(R) integration—The SP350 also provides Microsoft(R) Office Outlook(R) integration support for voice calling functions.
Enhanced Business Processes
-- Drag and drop calling—making a call is as easy as dragging a number from a contact list, call history or directory applications like Microsoft Outlook, HTML pages or Microsoft Word documents.
-- Presence information—employees will know who is available and when, allowing them to work smarter and be in control as customer calls can be directed and placed to people that are known to be available.
-- Advanced network features—When linked together across an NEC IP network, SP350 users can collaborate through time-saving applications like: audio/video conferencing, application sharing, file transfer, whiteboard and instant messaging. The call log feature enables the storage of information about outgoing/incoming calls, missed calls as well as recorded call files.
