Positron Public Safety Systems Brings VoIP Technology to the North Central Texas Council of Governme

Positron Public Safety Systems Inc. (PPSS), an IPC company, announced today that it has won a significant award from its newest member of top tier customers: North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG). Under the terms of a five year agreement, Positron will deploy VIPER™ and its Power suite of products in over 43 of NCTCOG’s PSAPs, providing VoIP based E911 services to 13 counties and 5 municipal systems. Positron is partnering with Embarq to provide enhanced maintenance and support services.

Leveraging the industry expertise of technology consultants L. Robert Kimball & Associates on NextGen services, NCTCOG developed requirements for replacing their existing CPE and executing on a successful implementation for Next Generation 9-1-1 services.

NCTCOG required a proven 9-1-1 next generation platform that would meet their rigorous demands, which include over 20 key feature requirements. It was also important that the provider have a solid evolution and product roadmap and backing from organizations that could provide unparalleled service and support. Following a thorough and competitive RFP process, NCTCOG selected Positron’s VIPER as the best solution to address their NextGen 9-1-1 services. Aside saving over 60% in space in the backroom, VIPER is known and applauded for its user-friendly interfaces. Another key benefit is that with robust and proven VoIP capability, it is easy to configure host and remote PSAPs which fully address disaster planning needs. Implementation is scheduled to begin February 2008.

“We are excited to welcome NCTCOG to our ever growing list of new customers”, said Darrin J. Reilly, President of Positron Public Safety Systems. “On the heels of another recent major win, the number of VIPER positions in the USA has now surpassed 1,000 – a major milestone for the industry as well as for Positron. Our flagship offering, VIPER, is experiencing a rapid rate of adoption, becoming the defacto industry standard for NextGen E9-1-1 services. We are proud to be the vendor of choice for NCTCOG.”
