RAD’s EtherAccess Products Certified Compliant with Metro Ethernet Forum Standards
“Access networks are characterized by multiple technologies and physical media, and that underscores the importance of requiring a uniform Ethernet delivery solution,” explains Ron Agam, Senior Product Line Manager at RAD Data Communications. “With the granting of MEF-9 and MEF-14 certification to RAD’s Ethernet access solutions, carriers can rest assured that they will be able to deliver uniform Ethernet services across their infrastructure, be it DSL, PDH, SDH/SONET, or fiber,” he adds.
The RAD products certified by Iometrix as compliant with MEF standards are the ETX family of Ethernet network termination units (E-NTUs), the RICi series of Ethernet-over-E1/T1 and Gigabit Ethernet-over-STM-1/OC-3c NTUs, Egate channelized Ethernet gateways, IPmux TDM pseudowire gateways, and the company’s Link Access Ethernet first mile (EFM) DSL access devices.
MEF-9 certification confirms Ethernet service conformity at the user network interface (UNI), where the subscriber’s and service provider’s responsibilities meet. MEF-14 certification complements MEF-9 by verifying standards-based Carrier Ethernet service quality.
“We are very pleased to certify that RAD’s EtherAccess product line meets MEF-9 and MEF-14 standards,” states Bob Mandeville, President of Iometrix. “Together, these standards are designed to accelerate the worldwide adoption of Carrier Ethernet services and represent a major step forward into turning Ethernet into a true carrier-class technology.”
RAD’s EtherAccess family of solutions delivers Ethernet and emulated services over any infrastructure. EtherAccess is designed to provide carriers and their customers with a cost-effective, standards-based system for delivering a uniform user experience with verifiable Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
