RedVoiss Deploys Acme Packet as Next Session Border Controller for Business VoIP Services

Competitive Operator in Chile Utilizes Acme Packet’s NextSBC Reassurance Program to Improve Security and Extend Interoperability of VoIP network

Acme Packet® (NASDAQ: APKT), the leader in session border control solutions, today announced that RedVoiss, a competitive service provider in Chile, has leveraged Acme Packet’s NextSBC Reassurance Program to deploy Acme Packet Net-Net® session border controllers (SBCs) in its VoIP network at both subscriber access and network interconnect borders. Acme Packet’s NextSBC Reassurance Program is designed to ease both the technical and business obstacles of migrating users of other SBCs to Acme Packet’s industry-leading solutions.

RedVoiss has deployed Acme Packet Net-Net SBCs in its VoIP network to cultivate continued growth of its residential and business subscriber base throughout Chile, as well as for VoIP interconnects with national and international service providers. Acme Packet SBCs extend interoperability with RedVoiss’ service provider peering partners’ networks and help expedite time to market. RedVoiss will also take advantage of the Acme Packet Connected Universe program to facilitate peering and interconnect relationships with other Acme Packet service providers for PSTN termination.

With Acme Packet SBCs, RedVoiss is able to provide a number of critical control functions for VoIP, including security, SLA assurance and service reach maximization. Acme Packet’s security framework, Net-SAFE®, provides denial of service (DoS) attack prevention, topology hiding and access control to protect RedVoiss’ VoIP core and ensure network availability. The company is leveraging Acme Packet’s protocol interworking in order to control both SIP and legacy H.323 signaling while the network is migrated to a pure SIP environment. Acme Packet also solved a critical issue with Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) interworking that was hindering the growth of RedVoiss’ customer base.

“As the first Latin American company to offer an Internet telephony service, RedVoiss has years of experience with VoIP and we realized we could not afford to continue with equipment that prevented us from expanding our business,” explained Claudio López, RedVoiss’ CTO. “With Acme Packet’s Net-Net SBCs, we are able to deliver the best quality service to our customers while leveraging partnerships and agreements with other providers that will help us grow in the long term.”

“At Acme Packet, we recognize how important flexible, reliable IP network border solutions are for our customers,” explained Seamus Hourihan, vice president of marketing and product management for Acme Packet. “Our Net-Net SBCs provide service providers like RedVoiss with the security, interoperability and scalability needed to continue as leaders in their market.”
