Rural Network Services (RNS) was established in 1995 to provide Internet and Long Distance services to rural communities in Idaho, Oregon and Arizona. The company quickly became an established Internet and long distance service Provider and by 2001 began offering local phone service in Weiser, Idaho. By using the Taqua 7000 Switching System, RNS plans to extend its local competitive phone service to other Idaho communities and surrounding states.

“Over the last decade, the Taqua 7000 has proven to be a reliable end-office switching solution capable of delivering both traditional and advanced services that are required to compete for our broad base of business, government, and residential subscribers,” said Lorie Davidson, general manager at Rural Network Services. “Taqua enables us to profitably deliver entry level TDM services and advanced VoIP telephony applications from the same small compact chassis. With the switch-on-a-card architecture, there is no more economical way to grow with your subscriber base. Adding capacity, whether its VoIP or TDM, is as simple as sliding in a new card.”

“Rural Network Services is a perfect example of how a service provider can benefit from the Taqua 7000’s flexible architecture to quickly and easily deliver a breadth of services from the same compact chassis,” said Scott Weidenfeller, chief marketing officer at Taqua LLC. “While rural in nature, RNS’s subscriber base is as diverse as any service provider located within a major metropolitan area. The T7000 will enable RNS to deliver upon their strategy of providing the most advanced telephony services when and where it’s required, while at the same time providing the most cost effective services in the region.”

The Taqua 7000 is the only field-proven next generation Class 5 switch that meets the strict requirements for five 9 reliability and provide a full-set of Class 5 services within a compact, gateway-like chassis. The T7000 scales from 40 to 40,000 subscribers in a single 17” X 24” shelf, enabling carriers to pay as they grow, and provide profitable voice services upon initial deployment. In addition, the compact footprint and conservative resource requirements of the T7000 make it practical for installation in a variety of locations including collocation spaces, MTUs or any site with a controlled environment.

The Taqua 7000 Switching System (T7000) is a leader in Class 5 switch replacement and has successfully replaced virtually every brand and vintage of Class 5 switch in North America. The T7000 is based on a patented “switch-on-a-card” design, in which all the functions of a Class 5 switch or IP gateway are performed on a single circuit pack. The simplicity of the architecture enables the industry’s lowest deployment and operational costs for an end-office exchange, as well as higher reliability with its fewer components. The field hardened T7000 has been shipping since 2000 and can support a wide variety of protocols including SS7, SIP, MGCP, GR-303, CAS, NCS, PRI and others over line, trunk or IP interfaces.
