With Tango Networks’ Abrazo, corporations are able to interoperate any mobile phone with Office Communications Server 2007. Users of Office Communications Server 2007 are able to make and receive calls with their mobile phone utilizing the enterprise communications network, and have a single unified communications inbox that now includes both desktop and mobile voicemail. In addition, presence and location information from the mobile network can be shared with Office Communications Server 2007 contacts as part of the experience.
Tango Networks’ Abrazo is based on a unique hybrid architecture containing a component in the enterprise network and a component in the mobile operator network. This fundamental design enables the solution to passively monitor mobile device status in the mobile network (e.g., registered/unregistered, on/off-the-phone, location area, etc.) and provide controlled, secure updates to Office Communications Server 2007. Because of this architecture, any mobile phone - with or without data connectivity - can extend the unified communications experience to include mobile presence and location information.
“With Office Communications Server 2007, Microsoft has successfully extended the power of unified communications to embrace desktop voice communications as part of the enterprise’s overall unified communications strategy,” stated Alastair Westgarth, president and chief executive officer of Tango Networks. “Tango is taking it one step further by enabling enterprises to extend Office Communications Server 2007 to all mobile devices while providing a complete view of end-user availability and location.”
