Once there was a time when billing was simple.. just take a few calls each month and sum up the usage times, apply a rate, print a bill and see the money come in.. that was it.
But that is changing now. New challenges are surfacing every day. A lot has been written and read on challenges like quality, ability to cope with huge amounts of data, interfaceability,time-to-market flexibility and total cost of ownership.
However, there are other challanges as well which seem to be yet unaccounted for. Challenges which different business models put before the billing system. For example, how does a game producer whose latest game has been downloaded to the mobile end-user device get his license fee? Does the operator want a brokerage fee for every business that has been closed using his network?
The real challenge, then, appears to be to comply to different business models that are tied to the new network features.
Can there be other views on this as well. I look forward to hearing them through the Infozech forum.
